HOW MUCH WORK WILL I GET?
It really depends. Some tutors teach as much as ten hours per week, and others are still waiting for their first job.
Factors affecting this include the locations and availabilities of tutors/ clients, the number of tutors offering the same subject, the amount of client demand for each subject, fluctuations in the number of enquiries at any given time, and, once the tutor starts teaching, the feedback we receive from clients about how they’re doing. Very often clients choose tutors based on their experience teaching the subject, level (and sometimes even exam board) in question, so this has a considerable part to play too.
At the moment we don’t impose a cap on the number of tutors we are prepared to have on our books. This ensures that we can always offer our clients a suitable tutor, and accounts for the fact that some tutors reduce or stop their teaching commitments depending on their nontutoring work schedule.
We make it as quick and painless to get set up with us as we can, plus there are also a number of special opportunities beyond teaching (see page 2), so it’s always worth being on our books!
When clients call us, we speak to them in detail about their tuition requirements, and then phone/email tutors on our books who teach the relevant subject. Tutors register their interest online through our website. We pick 2-3 tutors to put forward to the client; the client then makes the final decision.

How to Apply to Maths and English Language Tutor?
Maths and English Language Tutor Interview Process & Tips
If interested, please apply on the Titanium Tutors website, using this link.
Any current undergraduates or graduates can apply (but if you’re on a UK visa, please check that your visa status allows you to work self-employed, as this is not always the case, especially with student visas).
Just create an online account in our Applicant Portal, located at https://www.titaniumtutors.co.uk/apply
There we will ask you to respond to a few brief questions and to upload a CV. Your CV should contain details of your academic qualifications to date as well as any prior teaching experience (where applicable).
Please note that your CV does not need to include information other than your academic achievements and your teaching experience. You may include this if you wish, but it would be best to include it at the bottom, as it is typically the least important aspect of an application.
We will usually be able to let you know within 2-3 working days whether we would like to take your application further.
HOW THE INTERVIEW WORKS
The interview will last 20 minutes in total, consisting of a 10 minute lesson delivered by yourself, followed by a 5 minute debrief on the lesson with the assessor, and a 5 minute chat about teaching with the assessor.
Our assessors are typically tutors on our books, who have taught extensively for us. The assessor will double up as the student for your interview lesson, meaning that you will be teaching your lesson to the assessor himself/herself.
Once we have confirmed an interview time and date with you, we will email you a basic academic profile of the assessor, to help you to plan your lesson.
Before commencing your lesson, you should spend one or two minutes establishing an appropriate topic with your assessor. This time needs to be factored into the overall lesson time (i.e. the 10 minute lesson could consist of approx. 2 minutes of preliminary discussion with the student, followed by 8 minutes of actual teaching).
Company Information for Titanium Tutors
Titanium Tutors was founded by Joe Hytner in August 2011. Joe had recently finished studying Classics at King’s College, Cambridge and training as a Classics teacher at Queens’ College Cambridge. He saw a gap in the market for a private tuition agency run by a qualified teacher and decided to bring the valuable school teaching knowledge which he gained on his PGCE to a home teaching context. To this day, Titanium Tutors – based both in London and Cambridge, is one of very few UK private tuition agencies run by a qualified teacher — and our tutors and clients love us because we’re that little bit different.
