Chatteris Educational Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organisation that has been working in partnership with local schools in Hong Kong since 1990. We aim to empower Hong Kong students with enhanced English proficiency and intercultural understanding, enabling them to succeed in an increasingly globalised world. Our mission is to raise the English proficiency and self-confidence of Hong Kong’s young people, particularly the less privileged, through dynamic interaction with English-speaking university graduates working in creative partnership with schools.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Be a university graduate of any discipline with a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification
- Have a high level of English proficiency
- Have excellent clarity of speech
- Have a keen interest in working with children, teenagers, young adults or perhaps be considering a teaching career
- Have a clean police record
- Declare any pre-existing health conditions (physical or psychological) that may affect your performance at work
- Have an interest in teaching English as a global language
- Have a keen sense of responsibility
- Have a positive learning attitude and a willingness to develop professionally
- Be willing to adapt to Chinese culture
- Have an understanding of the importance of following routines
- Be able to deal with logistics, documentation and personal time management
- Be open minded with the ability to work well in a team
- Be committed to stay in Hong Kong for the duration of the nine month contract
- enhance the English learning experience of local S.T.E.M students at post-secondary level by supervising projects

Every year, we place recent English-speaking university graduates in local primary schools, secondary schools and vocational colleges to act as Chatteris Native English Speaking Tutors (CNETs) for one academic year (1st September – 31st May).
This map indicates the areas where our schools are located across Hong Kong. All schools in our programme have different needs and requirements and we work closely with both school and CNET throughout the year to maximise the benefit of the programme to their students.
We are committed to expanding our successful programme to reach more less privileged students.
