Abroad ESL Teacher Job Description
Period of Contract | 1 year (E-2 VISA holder can stay in Korea for a year. This is renewable) |
Salary | 1.8-2.3 million won per month (depending on your career and position ) (2000-2400 USD, 2200-2600 CAD) |

Working hours
Most schools require you to work 120hrs per month. Generally classes are 40min in length, although some have 80min classes. Working hours vary a great deal from school to school. Some schools have kindergarten classes in the morning and some don’t start until latter in the afternoon, but you can usually expect to work in between the hours of 9:30 to 8:00.
Duties
Aside from teaching, you will be expected to prepare materials and lesson plans for your classes. As well as write monthly evaluations on your student’s English abilities. You may also be required to help prepare for special activities such as Christmas or Halloween. Also many schools have weekly meetings which you will have to attend to discuss your classes, curriculum, special events or anything else involving ESL Teachers
Curriculum
Your school will provide you with textbooks appropriate to the student’s age and English level. Most textbooks cover conversation, grammar, reading comprehension, and pronunciation; using common everyday situations to present the material (i.e. at the Supermarket). Some schools follow a strict lesson plan for their program but most have a more flexible program, giving the teacher more freedom to present the material as they want. Generally though you will teach the material as it is presented in the teachers manual for that textbook.. A lot of the textbooks have flashcards and taps that go along with the books, as well as ideas for games and activities to help you out
Classes
You will find yourself in front of a class of 5-12 students ranging in age from 5-14 (Kindergarten to Middle School). Kindergarten classes are generally in the morning and elementary and middle school classes are in the afternoon. You will share your classes with a Korean partner. Your partner can help you with your classes and clear up any miss communication between you and your students (Please note that you do not teach together at the same time)

Qualification
1) Be a Native Speaker of English Speaking Country
(USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa)
2) Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
(English and Education majors, or those with TESOL certificates are preferred)-Hold a University degree
*Two or Three year college graduates (AA/AS degree holder) are not allowed to get the work visa, even you have a Tesol certificate.

If you are accepted by the school, you have to send the required documentations to us by air-courier service. (ex : DHL or FedEx)
The required documents are as below:
1. A copy of university diploma with an apostille (excepting Canada) or a copy notarized by a Korean consulate (Canada)
2. The original signed contract
3. A copy of your passport photo I.D page
4. 4 recent passport-sized color photos
5. Your recent resume
6.A Criminal Background Check with an apostille (excepting Canada) or a Criminal Background Check notarzied from Korean consulate(Canada)
7. Medical Check form (see anouncement menu)
Abroad ESL Teacher Salary and Compensation
Airfare
The employer agrees to provide the employee a round trip ticket to Korea. However, in the event the Employee fails to complete the full contract term, the employee agrees to reimburse the employer the cost of the paid airfare. (If you are already in Korea, then a single ticket to your country is provided at the completion of the contract)
Accommodation
The employer agrees to provide housing (Single or shared accommodation) for the employee. The employee is not responsible for the payment of the rent, but the employee is responsible for paying his share of the utilities.
How to Apply to Abroad ESL Teacher?

A. Normal Process (Obtain working visa in your country)
It usually takes at least 4 to 6 weeks to proceed your whole placement process. We offer our placement services to teachers for free.
1. Application Stage
Fill out and submit the application form at least 4 to 6 weeks before you want to leave your home for Korea. It is essential that you enclose your resume and photos. You can also apply to us through email by sending your resume and photo. Remember you are not the only one who is interested in a particular position. So it is advisable that you remain to open other possibilities
2. The required documents
If you are accepted by the school, you have to send the required documentations to us by air-courier service. (ex : DHL or FedEx) The required documents are as below:

3. Visa Process in Korea
When we receive the required documentations from you, we will then process your E2 work visa. The director of the school will submit them to the immigration office to get your visa. Once this process is completed, a visa Issuance number will be sent to you by email from us. It takes usually 7 or 10 days
4.Interview in Korea Embassy or Consulate
You will need to get a visa stamp on your passport from the nearest Korean consulate. Those who are newly applying for E2 visa need to be interview at their nearest Korean consulate or embassy in their country. It is recommended that you make a phone call to the consulate before going there. If the Korean embassy/ consulate deems that the applicant lives an unreasonable distance to be physically present for a personal interview, a web cam interview via the internet will be substituted.
5. Get on the plane
After you get a flight ticket from our travel agency, you are ready to come to Korea. When you arrive at the airport, our staff will be waiting for you and take you to your school. Within 90 days after arriving in Korea, you must go to the immigration office in order to obtain a residence permit.
