Abroad ESL Teacher Job Description
Elementary position:
Monday- Friday. Mornings & Afternoons to 5pm. NT$69,000+/mo. Attendance bonus NT$3,000 and paid winter vacation and one month pay as resign bonus plus national holidays.
Well- established school. Many native speaking teachers working with us, on average, they stay for 4 years or more. Work permit, ARC, National Health Insurance, labor insurance & bonuses provided.
Established in 2004 FHBES is an elementary school located in central Taiwan in the city of Taichung. The school has modern facilities including computers, television and projector access in every classroom; a track and field area; an indoor gym & swimming pool; an indoor and outdoor play area; a complete library; a computer lab; science labs; music and dance rooms and a cafeteria.
As a bilingual school students study Chinese for half of the day and English for the other.
- Each teacher has 2 homeroom classes per day.
- Maximum class size of 18 students in each class.
- Each teacher is responsible for teaching 26 out of 40 periods per week, periods are 40 minutes long.
- The remaining 14 periods are for preparation.
- School year commences late August or early September. Midterm break for Chinese New Year is approximately 2 weeks paid holiday in January or February. The school year ends in late June followed by summer camp for the month of July. The school is closed for August (this is not paid).
- We use an American curriculum, Houghton- Mifflin, and books + resources are provided.
- Subjects include: Reading, Writing, PE, Library, Computer, Social Studies, Science & Grammar.
Currently we have 28 foreign teachers. Foreign teachers are paired with a local ESL teacher. Together they have their own classroom and are responsible for 2 homeroom classes. ESL teachers are responsible for contact with parents, general administration and assisting with classroom management. The ESL teachers teach Grammar.
The foreign teacher’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: weekly newsletters , writing tests and worksheets, spelling quizzes and homework assignments. Each semester teachers are responsible for midterm and final exams, midterm and final report cards, open house demonstration for parents and one- on- one parent teacher conferences (during school hours). There are annual special ceremonies and holiday events such as field trips, summer and winter camps, Science fair, speech contests and sports day.

In order to achieve this, Ming Dao and Future Heir realized that education should be linked from the preschool to college with vertical system integration. Elementary school should teach students good habits and open their eyes to the limitless possibilities that arise from positive thinking. High school provides the specific knowledge required for success in college and university.
