Kansai International Academy Job Description
Kansai International Academy has 9 campuses in Kansai and 4 in Tokyo Area with kindergartens and early learning centers, and 1 Elementary School , Junior High and High School in Kobe. Kobe campus is authorized for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB/PYP). The Secondary School has four classes (grade 7 to 10) and we will offer a preparatory semester before the 2 year DP programme.
Kansai International Academy opened its Secondary School department (grade 7-12) at our Kobe campus three years ago. The Elementary School is also located at Kobe campus, which is an IB World School authorized for the Primary Years Programme (PYP). We are the first school to offer the PYP in Japanese, as well as English in a fully bilingual curriculum. KIA is also currently an IB DP candidate school.
We are looking for a highly motivated, qualified and experienced math teacher who has knowledge of the IB DP programme and who is willing to collaborate with the secondary school department that based around project-based and experiential learning.
Work hours will generally be weekdays from 8:20 am to 5 pm. Transportation will be compensated up to 25,000 yen per month. All employees at KIA are eligible for social insurance and paid holidays. Kansai International Academy has 9 campuses (Higashi Osaka, Hirakata, Ashiya, Akashi, Himeji, Kyoto, Tennoji, and Kobe) in Kansai area and 3 campuses in Tokyo area (Bunkyo, Chiyoda, and Azabu).
Our mission statement is to raise leaders who will succeed in the global society. We pride ourselves in Japanese – English bilingual education and treat Japanese language and culture with huge value. Although English is the official language within the academy, our children have regular Japanese classes and can read and write Japanese at a higher level than other children of the same age.
We have a mixture of Japanese teachers and international teachers from the United States, Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, China and France, giving our children exposure to many cultural traditions and values.
We have an Early Learning Center (aged 1-3 year olds) and Kindergarten (aged 3-6 year olds) at all campuses and an Elementary School and Secondary School at Kobe. Our Kobe campus is authorized as an IB PYP school and IB DP candidate school.
We have a low student-to-teacher ratio, which enables our teachers to focus more attention on each student in order to cultivate their individuality and creativity.
We also have a Curriculum Lab consisting of full-time class teachers and specialized curriculum developers who are constantly working to implement the most effective and up-to-date curriculum and teaching methods. The Curriculum Lab ensures that the school curriculum is taught to a certain standard throughout all the campuses and provides training for the ongoing professional development of all teachers.
