Ryan Boyle says
I worked at Gloria English School in 2010 and 2011, and I had a really wonderful experience. Gloria had a particularly strong emphasis on community for the English teachers, and that was very much a strong point. Living together and having a supportive environment is a must in a foreign environment. The curriculum was effective and well thought-out, and I felt that the students were getting genuine value from the classes. There are certain issues with any sort of after-school education, in Taiwan or otherwise, and of course Gloria had some of these, too. Mostly though, I found everyone I worked with and worked for to be caring and straight-forward. Many of my fellow foreign teachers returned to Gloria after teaching in other countries, and I think that says a lot about their experience there. Similarly, those who had taught in other places had really positive things to say. It has also been a number of years, and I don’t know how things have changed at Gloria. Still, if you are considering teaching internationally or in Taiwan, specifically, I strongly recommend Gloria.
