I have been reading posts on FB from teachers with their referral links to Palfish. Is it really worth it? Do I need to have a phone or is there a version of Palfish for PC? What is the palfish rate for teaching each hour? With so many of these new companies I feel like they are a waste of time. Signup, wait for approval, wait to get a student, wait to get paid.
To be fair, it depends on if you are a native or non-native teacher. If you are a native teacher then you can join their Official Palfish Program. They accept native English speakers from Australia, The US, UK, Canada, and New Zealand with a neutral accent. If you become an official teacher then you have more of a consistent schedule.
If you are not an official teacher then you have to work a little bit to find new students. It is like any other create a profile job where you set your own pay, but they have a social media aspect as well. They call it moments. Moments is a Facebook style social feed for online ESL Chinese students on Palfish.
Students and teacher share post, images, videos, and ask questions. You can respond in writing or voice recording. This is a good way to get followers and follow students as well. If you are a new teacher then you can follow some of the popular teachers to figure out how they are getting followers.
Also, you will want to do free live lessons so that students can get to know you better. Do these on your computer instead of your phone. This will give you better audio and video. Also, make some images to use as slides during these live sessions.
There is a guide that goes into more details here. You can apply using our Palfish application link and we will help you through the process. If you use that link then we will help you through the process by contacting you once you are signed up. We have already helped tons of teachers!
